ipCapital Licensing Company Welcomes Former Boeing IP Executive

Williston, VT  (Profitable.com)  Luis Valdes, a renowned intellectual property (IP) licensing executive and retired President of the Boeing Intellectual Property Licensing Company, has joined ipCapital Licensing Company (ipCLC) as Managing Director.

At ipCLC Mr. Valdes will focus on the growth of the organization and on significant patent portfolio transactions, including IP acquisition and licensing, working with Fortune 500 companies to strategically monetize patent portfolios.

“Luis is known in the licensing industry as one of the most creative and successful win-win negotiators. His knowledge of the licensing process, law, economics and the licensing ecosystem is tremendous”, said John Cronin, Managing Director of ipCLC. “Luis will help us to scale ipCLC and will be an asset in complex transactions.”

Mr. Valdes began his 31-year Boeing career as an engineer in 1981. Since 2000 he focused on intellectual property, first as Director of Intellectual Property Management and Vice President of Boeing Management Company, and most recently as President of the Boeing Intellectual Property Licensing Company until his 2013 retirement. As President of the Licensing Company, Mr. Valdes was responsible for integrating Boeing’s licensing activity into a single subsidiary where he managed development and implementation of business strategy and made policy decisions regarding the licensing of Boeing’s intellectual property. This included management of strategic licensing programs and marketing plans, intellectual property valuation, and licensee relationships. He implemented aggressive revenue development plans, which led to an increase in annual license execution and exceeding annual revenue forecasts.

According to Mr. Valdes, “Companies strategize before they spend millions of dollars on research and development, and the success of that strategy is often determined by their ability to both recover and maximize the value of these investments. The return on such investments is what allows it to fund the future. I believe that ipCLC is uniquely situated to be an integral part of a team to help maximize this value. I look forward to working with John and the team.”

Mr. Valdes holds a law degree from Seattle University and earned a Bachelor’s of Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
