MIAMI (Profitable.com) Carnival Cruise Lines set a one-week reservations record…
Tourism on the popular island is set to receive a boost with the introduction of 124 new golf courses and Jet2.com launch new flights.
Golf on Cyprus is set to become more popular as officials announce plans to open new courses all over the island.
Cyprus has long held a reputation as a luxury holiday destination because of its picturesque and, in parts, dramatic landscape. However, despite such verdant surroundings, golf has never been one of the leading attractions.
This could be about to change after the Ministerial Committee for the development of golf courses in Cyprus reaffirmed the Government’s plans to deliver “very important developments for Cyprus’ tourism and economy.”
With such exciting plans for the future, holidaymakers might be keen to take cheap flights to Cyprus, especially after Jet2.com put them on sale.
A Commitment to Tourism
Cyprus already boasts a good choice of golf courses, scattered across the island; which has helped to boost tourism in 2011. This year the island is enjoying an increase in tourism according to the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Antonis Paschalides.
Two courses, one in Paphos and one in Larnaca are due to be opened soon, which will add to popular courses already established like Aphrodite Hills and Ayia Napa Golf Clubs.
Mr Paschalides also confirmed that they are looking into the possibility of introducing winter tourism. This might be ideal for golfers who find the British winter season a bit of a dampener on their golf sessions.
Cyprus in the winter still offers a mild climate, but most importantly few rain interruptions. This, coupled with the development of so many new golf courses, could entice more holidaymakers to visit the island out of peak season.
More Reasons to Visit Cyprus
Another reason likely to encourage people to visit Cyprus is the excellent value of flights available and the short flight times.
Jet2.com has recently announced a raft of flights to Cyprus available for 2012 and flights are currently available as part of Jet2.com’s Mega Flight Sale.
Flights arrive at both Larnaca and Paphos Airports giving holidaymakers access to both sides of the island. However, when it comes to golf, there isn’t any shortage no matter where you are.
